Punta Cana is the most famous touristic area in the Caribbean. I known worldwide for its spectacular beaches with white sand and the water crystal-clear but also for the hospitality of the people. With more than 40 kilometers of beaches, many magical places and a wide hotel network, Punta Cana becomes the most visited touristic destination in the Caribbean.

The number of turists has been growing every year, now around 3.8 milion people choose Punta Cana as their vacation destination. You can find inside the resorts the best night clubs, spas, restaurants, stores, casinos. Also this is the heaven for the golf lovers, Cana Rock beeing rounded by the Hard Rock Golf Course designed by Jack Nicklaus.
Here you have the posibility to choose a “all-inclusive package” as much as traveling on your own.
At the time of your arrival in Punta Cana you have to pay at the airport a 10$ fee which covers the turist visa for one month. The currency here is american dollars and dominican pesos but also you can make card payments. There are no mandatory vaccines to enter the country. The Passport is the only identification document needed.
Punta Cana, is located in the East side of the country with exit at the Atlantic Occean and Caribbean Sea. The average temperatura is between 25ºC – 28ºC and the thermal amplitude of 2ºC – 4ºC. The water has a pleasant temperature during all year.

Between August and November, you might witness tropical storms and the weather is more unstable but you can still enjoy the beach.

The hotels offer all kind of trips. You can visit arrounds, like trip to Santo Domingo, which is the capital, or visit the islands, Saona, Catalina. You also have the posibility to spend your time more active like doing parasailing, surfing, boogie rides, visit the adventure park, swimming with dolphins and many more. Don`t forget to try the Dominican typical drink, Mamajuanna, and the local beer, Presidente.
In case you wonder if your phone will work here, the answer is Yes!; don`t forget to actívate your roaming service. It advisable to buy a local sim card because the international calls are really expensive.

In your suitcase, you must pack: insect repellent to keep you away from mosquitos, and any cream for insect bites and stings. Also a Little first aid kit, with anti-inflammatory, antidiarrheal, paracetamol. Don´t forget your sun screen over 50 FPS, and if you are coming from europe remember the plug adapter and the power converter to 110 V. If you don´t have any, you can get one at the airport or at stores inside the hotel.

You should pack light clothes but don`t forget your swimsuit and flip-flops. You can also add some night outfits or clubing ones to take advantage of the night life in Punta Cana.

isla saonaSaona Island is the most appreciated destination by the tourists. The first stop of the trips is to do snoorkeling, the second stop is at the natural pool and the third stop on the island. There you enjoy the afternoon and after you return on a catamarán where witness a dominican party.
samanaJutting out of the DR’s northeastern shore and basking in the ocean, the nature haven that is the Samaná Peninsula is as coveted today as it was in the 16th century. Pirates hid in its lush, palm-filled forests, isolated beaches, and hidden caves, while European and Haitian troops competed over its deep water, protected bay. Today, Samaná–often abbreviated to refer to the entire peninsula–is well connected by land and air, yet it remains the DR’s secluded, paradisiacal escape of wild beaches, coconut plantations, and rainforests It’s as if the approximately 2,500 humpback whales that visit Samaná Bay every year appreciate this natural splendor as much as visitors do.
actividades-aventura-speed-boatIf you are seeking for action in Punta Cana, you enjoy a boogie ride at Macao beach, there you can do horseback riding on the beach or surf. Fort he more adventuros one zipline into the caribbean jungle is an option or parasailing. If you wish you can fly above Punta Cana in a helicopter to admire all its beauty.
sto-domingo-paseo-colonYou will not always have so close the possibility to visit the first European colonial city in America. Santo Domingo is 3 hours away by car and 4 hours by bus. If you like history, you must go visit the capital. All the heritage of Santo Domingo is located in the Colonial Zone. The first American house where Columbus lived, the first cathedral and the first hospital built by the Spaniards. The Ozama fortress, the convent of the Dominicans and the Santa Clara church attracts the attention of visitors. The most iconic squares are those of Columbus, with a statue of the Genovese discoverer presiding over it and that of Spain. You can enjoy the history of Santo Domingo as much as its restaurants, coffee shops, malls etc.
los-haitises-lagunaPreserved since 1976, Los Haitises – which translates as “highlands” in Taíno – is home to rainforest, mangroves of varying species, over 200 species of birds (pelicans, gannets, owls, parrots, manatees, bats, it’s a key bird-nesting site and sanctuary), multiple caves (San Gabriel, La Reyna, La Línea and La Arena), and some of the highest numbers of Taíno petroglyphs and pictographs in the country This is one of the most beautiful trips to go in Punta Cana. One of the relief particularities are the “mogotes”. The mogotes are small elevations of 30 or 40 meters high that have been formed by the karstic nature of the soil in the area and the action of rain and wind. You can get to Los Haitises by land or water. Most of the excursions include an exploration of its dense mangroves by boat and a visit to the ancient caves inhabited by the Tainos, where you still find paintings made by them.
reserva-ecologica-ojos-indigenasThe Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park and Reserve is a private protected area owned and operated by the Puntacana Ecological Foundation. Consisting of lowland subtropical forest, the reserve is 1,500 acres of land dedicated to conservation, scientific research, and recreation. The Ecological Reserve is a forest reserve that has twelve freshwater lagoons, five of which visitors can swim in. Historians discovered that the Taíno Indians, the pre-Columbian inhabitants of the island, referred to the lagoons as “eyes” because of their distinctive shape. For this reason the Ecological Park and Reserve was named, “Ojos Indígenas” or “Indigenous Eyes.”
The Ecological Park consists of numerous exhibits describing the cultural and natural history of the island. Visitors can visit a petting zoo with many domesticated animals common in the Dominican Republic since colonial times, a sugarcane exhibit, an iguana habitat and many other attractions.
coco-bongoDuring the day, the beaches of Punta Cana are usually the protagonists, however when the night comes you can have fun in one of the numerous clubs and pubs around here. Coco Bongo is the most famous night destinations. It has one of the best entertainment shows in the Caribbean. If you want to experience a party in a real cave then you have to go at Imagine. Here you will witness two parties at the same time but in different caves. Is an experience of one of a kind. Othere popular clubs are Oro, Legacy, Mangu.
If you are not a fan of loud music you can joint any bar with beautiful live music.
buceo-bombonaThe waters of the Dominican Republic offers various spots for diving attract divers from all corners of the world. Large areas of corals, underwater caves and wrecks, among the natural áreas there are some others that have been deliberately placed. One of the best dive site near Punta Cana are La Cueva, a shallow dive that takes you through a beautiful circuit of caves between some sharks (harmless!)
