At an initial cost of over USD 257 million, the 5-star resort has 1,042 rooms in the first stage, but a second establishment will add about 1,500 rooms. More than 1,800 people worked at the site for 15 months.
The president toured the complex with Lopesan CEO, Francisco López, who said that more than 1,800 people worked at the site for 15 months. “With the opening, we attract around 1,200 new employees from almost all the provinces of the country, without counting the increase we have in the demand of local suppliers in the daily operations,” he said.
On the new hotel’s design and architecture, López explained it was inspired by the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, as well as other traditional buildings of Ibero-America and the Canary Islands.
“Soon we will start the second phase of our masterplan, we will build a second establishment of about 1,500 rooms, so that we will culminate a project that includes some 2,500 rooms,” Lopez said. Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino, a 5-star resort, has 1,042 rooms in the first stage.
